MAUMERE, NTTZOOM-The hearing meeting of the UNIPA Foundation management at the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) finally clarified.
The chairman of the Nusa Nipa University Foundation (UNIPA) Sabinus Nabu finally admitted that UNIPA belongs to the Sikka Regional Government. The meeting session was held on Monday (11/10) in the meeting room of the Regional People's Representative Council. The agenda, questioning the status of UNIPA, assets and changing the name from UNIPA Maumere to UNIPA Indonesia.
The head of the UNIPA Foundation, Sabinus Nabu, explained that the assets currently used by UNIPA belonged to the Sikka Regency Government. These include land and other items, such as the former Maumere public hospital.
Meanwhile, other assets were handed over in order to transform from Private University (PTS) UNIPA into State University (PTN), according to the recommendation of the Regent of Sikka number DPPKAD 030/292/2014 dated August 13, 2014, which stated that in order to support the change in the status of the University of Nusa Nipa became a State University, the Sikka local government has provided 30 hectares of land in Kota Baru and Wuring Villages, to fulfill the specified requirements and will be handed over to the central government in order to develop education facilities at the State University of Nusa Nipa.
"The Sikka Regent's recommendation dated August 13, 2014 is in order to support the change in the status of the University of Nusa Nipa to a State University, the Sikka Regency Government is willing to hand over regional property in the form of building land and other assets, with a total value of Rp. 10,867,947469," Sabinus Nabu explained.
He added that the Sikka Regent's recommendation number: KESRA 460/45/VII/2014 dated July 10, 2014 stated that, since the beginning of UNIPA's establishment, the Sikka Regency Government intended that UNIPA should become a State University, even the Sikka Regency Government strongly supports all efforts to make UNIPA into a State University.
"Since the beginning, the Sikka Regency Government has intended for UNIPA to become a State University," said Sabinus.
He also admitted that the UNIPA Foundation had made a statement, the decision of the UNIPA Foundation management meeting in front of a notary regarding the submission of all UNIPA management to the government of the republic of Indonesia according to notarial deed number 07 dated August 22, 2014.
The handovers, continued Sabinus, included the delivery of facilities and infrastructure assets, personnel which included students, lecturers, education staff and financial management. In the meeting, he continued, gave power of attorney to Drs. Sabinus Nabu to appear before a notary and act on behalf of the foundation to submit to the government.
This means that administratively all assets, both from foundations and district governments, have been handed over to the CQ government, Ministry of Research, Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti).
"In an effort to transform UNIPA into a state university, all assets will be handed over to the government CQ Ministry of Research, Directorate General of Higher Education," said Sabinus.
Regarding the name change, Sabinus continued, that name has a meaning as nomen est omen is a sign. The sign means that UNIPA already has a national competition arena or is even interpreted as a signal to the government that Indonesia is not only echoed in Java and Bali but also in Flores.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of the University of Nusa Nipa, Dr. Ir. Angelinus Vincentius M. Si, on the same occasion explained, the addition of the word Indonesia after the name of the University of Nusa Nipa was intended to make UNIPA more attractive and competitive in accordance with current developments, having branding, big, magnificent and advanced which is more valuable, especially for the younger generation Z, who were born in 1996, are prospective new generation Z students who are the generation after the millennial generation.
Like the Latin adage nomen est omen continued Angelinus, UNIPA Indonesia's nomenclature shows a clear meaning that Nusa Nipa (the original name of the island of Flores is an inseparable part of the Republic of Indonesia in a geopolitical perspective which provides an explanation that Indonesia is not only Bali and Java.
